This project involved an extension and renovation to a traditional stone rubble walled farmhouse close to the shores of Lough Neagh. The original building is a traditional cottage with a long narrow plan and simple gable ends. The extension creates a modern brick paired gable on the western side. The pitch of the new roof is steeper with all supporting steelwork concealed within the roof built-up to create a full apex vaulted ceiling. Foundations to the extension were carefully considered to ensure that they did not disturb the existing stone rubble walls which are founded on shallow foundation stones.
Notably, the project has been showcased in various architectural publications, including a prominent feature on the front page of Self Build magazine.
